Custom software development
and systems analysis/design for small businesses. Major projects include:
- Johnson & Johnson, Ethicon Endo Surgery -- Developed custom application for scheduling, managing and evaluating Cooperative Education engineering students to be used by project managers and human resources personnel.
- Catalina Tool and
Mold -- Co-developed management information system for ISO 9001 manfacturer
of plastic injection molds. System features cost estimation, production planning,
complete managerial/financial accounting, real time activity based project
management and integration of CAD/CAM systems.
- J&M Corporation
-- Designed and built integrated order entry, production control, inventory
and accounting system for manufacturer of motorcycle accessories. Development
includes a database driven Ecommerce website for customer orders.

Designed and developed extensive cost estimation and project planning
package for Los Angeles corporation specializing in printing, laminating and

IntraSearch Engineering Inc., Billings, Montana
Directed staff of 9 professional,
technical and clerical workers for engineering/ management consulting firm specializing
in exploration, mining and energy development.
- Chief author, designer
and coordinator for two major surface coal mine permits. Coordinated efforts
of subcontractors to integrate financial, technical, environmental and socioeconomic
impacts Into a single, clearly written, document. Prepared 30 to 50 year development
plans for public and regulatory review. Permits were scrutinized by 37 regulatory
agencies, presented in public hearings and approved by all local and federal
agencies. Reclamation plans were recognized by regulators for outstanding
environmental innovation.
- Designed and implemented
new production methods and personnel training programs for surface phosphate
mines in Dimona, Israel.
- Completed performance
audits of two existing surface coal mines for public utility customers. Reviewed
and restructured cost accounting procedures. Complied 30 year development
plans, with cash flow models under multiple risk scenarios.
- Mediated contract negotiations
for long term energy supply agreements. In anticipation of legislative mandates
for final reclamation liabilities and disposal of nuclear waste, we proposed
financial mechanisms to insulate clients from potential liability. Mechanisms
were later mandated by regulatory agencies.
Planning Engineer
Exxon Coal U.S.A., Carter Mining Division, Gillette, Wyoming
Supervised staff of five
responsible for quality assurance, environmental compliance and production scheduling.
Caballo mine had the highest output per labor hour in the U.S.
- Completed short, medium,
and long range operating plans for the Caballo surface coal mine. Prepared
capital, operating and personnel budgets, including performance measures and
progress monitoring mechanisms.
- Constructed detailed
geologic, volumetric, and financial models on a variety of computers.
- Established training
programs and performance standards for technical & hourly workers.
- Implemented remote satellite
and local area network of mini and mainframe computers. Developed and trained
users in software applications.
- Performed feasibility
studies and recommendations for $750 million synthetic fuel prospect. Responsible
for 40 year cash flow projections; costing and evaluation of earth moving
technology; and identification of potential risks and competitive advantage.
Associate Engineer
Green Construction Co., 3R Division, Denver, Colorado
- Evaluated potential
mineral prospects for major construction corporation. Constructed detailed
operating plans and extensive financial models for potential projects.
- Retained to begin an
operation in West Virginia that proved unviable
- Performed short turnaround
feasibility studies on a consulting basis
Construction/Section Foreman
American Electric Power, Southern Ohio Coal Co., Albany, Ohio
- Supervised 12 person
production crew in underground coal mine as Section Foreman. Responsible for
production planning, safety/first aid instruction, administration of discipline
and regulatory compliance. Top producing unit out of 16, lowest safety violation
rate, no union grievances in 18 months.
- Supervised floating
crew of 5 to 7 as Construction Foreman. Construction scheduling and design
of ventilation and conveyer belt installations. Planning and implementation
of three year construction development program. Coordinate distribution of
underground supplies.
- Wrote, coordinated and
negotiated permits for non-standard construction blasting techniques. Presentations
to regulatory agencies were pivotal in obtaining variance permits.
Cooperative Education Program

mining experience with Duval Mining Corporation in Tucson and 6 months with
Consolidation Coal. Co in Ohio and West Virginia.

Developer
Information Systems Technology Group (ISTG), Tucson, AZ
Work on a consulting basis
with a small information management company specializing in local area networks,
custom applications software and document imaging. Active both as an analyst
and as a corporate principle. Selected clients include:
- Poly Print, Inc., Tucson
AZ -- New manufacturing concern specializing in printing and lamination of
flexible packaging material. As an analyst, developed extensive LAN based
custom software for job estimating, billing, scheduling, shop floor control,
inventory management, quality assurance, and performance evaluation.
- Action Purchasing &
Packaging, Industry, CA -- Developed network based custom software for broker
of flexible packaging films. System used to control $40 million inventory
of films; estimate production costing; automate purchasing and shipping; and
shop floor control.
- Miles Label Co., Tucson,
AZ -- Developed LAN based order entry, billing, packaging, and shipping system
for printer of custom forms and labels.
- Catalina Tool &
Mold, Tucson AZ -- Developed LAN based plant scheduling calendar and contact
management packages for world class manufacturer of plastic injection molds.
Consolidation of Capital

Retained by the Office of
Institutional Finance to consolidate existing policies and procedures for major
construction activities. Scope of work includes:
- recommendations for
improvements in both policy and tracking procedures;
- preparation of a draft
policy manual (suitable for distribution to academic units); and

database for future changes.

Completed four-month, systems
analysis and operational restructuring for Physical Resources Division, University
of Arizona. Final report and designs included:
